Windy City Gridiron Review
In an attempt to branch off and get a different perspective onto my blogging about the Bears, I decided to take a look at the blog Windy City Gridiron. When I first got to the site, I noticed that the blogger had a lot going on with his page and figured they were an advanced blogger. After reading a few of the bloggers articles and browsing through their site, I was able to determine that the blog has multiple author and that could lead to some interesting perspectives. It was also very easy to see that the writers of the blog had a fiery passion for the Bears along with a passionate outlook on the NFL. They not only wrote about the Bears but other games throughout the NFL that had implications on the Bears. As a blog on the Bears, I feel like it was a very good idea for them to touch on the other games and match ups throughout the day in order to give Bears fans an outlook onto how the day went. I believe this gives the reader, especially Bears fans, a different outlook then most blogs that only talk about the Bears. When you actually started to read a specific post, you got a real good sense that the writer was not only very knowledgeable about what they were writing about, but they also had an inner passion and drive to write a successful and informative post. Another thing I noticed while browsing and read was that the posts that were very speculative or opinionated generated a lot of comments and conversation. It really goes to show that people are interested in others opinions and stating them really is a good conversation starter. Another thing I noticed is that they have a variety of post styles. Some of the posts were very short to the point post and others were long, lengthy and very information rich. Another thing I happened to notice is that it looks as if the blog site is run by a sporting website. This not only shows the credibility of the blog posts but also that they will be up to date and correct. In regard to the overall design of the blog, I feel like they have done many things that will draw readers in but also at the same time, I feel like they have a lot going on. If I could make any recommendation to them, it would be to try and simplify the page just a bit, so that readers can focus on only reading the blogs and not everything else that is going on. Overall, I feel like this is a very productive site and I will continue to visit from time to time to see how it evolves. So until next time, Bear Down Chicago!
